Yes, another draw.
This time between Gungahlin Lakes and traditional rivals Gold Creek, who were keen to avenge their defeat in 2017.
Once again Caleb Te Moananui playing number one for the Lakes led from the front and recorded his third win for the season. However, the performance of the new comers in the Lakes’ squad, Dave McGibbon and Connor Farrell continue to impress. Dave recorded the biggest win while Connor battled hard to fend off a wiley Brian Kelly until the 18th, where Brian got up and down from a seemingly impossible position to square the match. We will undoubtedly be hearing a lot more about Connor in A Grade in future years.
Arguably, the match of the day was between Gavin Macualey from the Lakes and Nick Cochrane playing 2 for Gold Creek. At the end of a close tussle, ‘the battle of the boomers’, ended in a 1 up win to Nick. One thing’s for sure – Gungahlin will be seeking revenge in 2019.
